Bulk Digitizing of Your Family Photos

January 5th, 2011

If you know anyone who has lost their home to a fire or flood, you will know that the one thing they most regret losing — is their family photos. Others may have lost their family photos due to the neglect or vandalism of a family member, roommate, or maybe even a jealous or spiteful “significant other”.

Most families have thousands of family photographs spanning many generations. Some of these photos may be well cared for and neatly arranged in albums, while other photos may just be thrown loosely in a couple of big boxes. One thing is for certain; unlike fine wine, those photos are not getting better with age. As time goes on photos have their color fade, their paper deteriorates, they rip and crack, and they wait to become a victim of some tragedy.

The best thing you can do to save your family memories is to digitize them. The digitized images can have the color restored and flaws removed; be protected from loss with having backup copies kept in safe locations; be easily copied and distribute to your family and friends; be displayed in digital photo frames or computer slide shows; and passed down to future generations. A fresh and bright paper version can always be reprinted from the digital file, which itself never fades or deteriorates.

You may know someone who spent good money for a decent photo quality scanner, with the good intentions of preserving their family memories – only to give up once they realize how time consuming the job was to scan photos one at a time.

Commercial grade scanners and software capable of quickly batch scan, correct, and save a large number of photos in a high resolution cost too much to make practical for most families to own.

This is where DDS Enterprises comes in. You simply need to group your photos in batches of 25, box up those batches, and send to us. A week or so later your photos will be safely returned along with a set of CDs or DVDs containing all of the hi-res digitized photos saved individually as JPGs. This professional scanning service costs far less that you might imagine. 1000 photos for less than $200, and that includes the storage media and our cost of shipping back to you.
